The Importance of Hydration

The Importance of Hydration

Did you know that more than half your body is fluids?  Staying hydrated is not only important for your fitness and weight loss, it is important for your overall health.  Here are some reasons why it is so hydrated to stay hydrated.

Heart Health: Drinking water and staying hydrated is key to your overall heart health.  Keeping your body hydrated helps the heart pump blood through the blood vessels and the body easier.

Removes Waste:  Drinking water throughout the day helps your muscles remove waste that is being stored.  Removing this waste will help your muscles work more efficiently.

Weight Loss:  When you feel hungry, there are times when you may actually just be dehydrated and need to drink water before eating.   Also, when trying to loose weight, you need an adequate amount of water to burn calories.

Boosts Brain Power:  Many studies show that a hydrated person reacts to cognitive tasks at a faster rate than a person who is dehydrated.

The above aren’t the only reasons to drink more water.  Hydration also maintains your body temperature, protects vital organs, and aids in digestion.  Whether you are beating the summer heat, building a snowman in the winter, or taking a jog out on the trails, your body needs water and needs to stay hydrated to keep your body running at its best.
