Are there foods that I can’t eat?

NO!!! You can eat anything that you want. Eating a cupcake doesn’t cause a weight problem; a pattern of eating lots of cupcakes and over consuming calories does. Eat what you want, just learn that there is a cause and effect of foods that we consume and that you need to own the effect.

Do I get the same dietary program as everyone else?

No you eat what you like not what someone else likes. A program that works for one person may not necessarily work for another due to personal preferences.  Our professionals will design a program that will give you the best chances for success and then we will adjust it as needed.

How does the Doctor’s Choice Fitness nutrition program work?

How long will it take to start losing fat?

Weight loss and specifically fat loss is a very individual process. There are many variables that affect weight loss. We can’t really address all of them here but someone who really adheres and engages in the program can see fat and weight loss fairly quickly, usually in the first week or so.

If I take a vacation, what happens to the sessions that I have paid for?

They will be waiting for you when you get back.  We understand that you are busy and you shouldn’t be penalized for it.

What cities will Doctor’s Choice Fitness send Certified Personal Trainers to?

DCFC will send Certified Personal Trainers to most cities in Southwestern California. Contact us to find out if we have staff in your area. The answer is usually “yes!”

What hours can I get a trainer to come to my home, office, park or beach?

Our Certified Personal Trainers are available from 5:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. We can offer other hours on a case by case basis.

What if I don’t match up with the trainer that I am provided?

This is a personality business. We really understand that so not to worry, as stated above, we have many trainers to choose from.  We understand that sometimes people just don’t click.  We feel it is imperative that you bond with your trainer as they will be an enormous influence and asset in your weight loss and fitness journey.

What if I have a preference of male or female certified personal trainer?

One of the huge advantages that you will enjoy by becoming a client of Doctor’s Choice Fitness is that we have many Certified Personal Trainers working with us.  That means you have the opportunity to choose a female, male, younger or older trainer not to mention some with bachelor’s degrees and even Master’s Degrees.  We also have trainers with specialized certifications like Fitness Nutritional Specialist, Performance Enhancement Specialist,TRX, P90X, Bosu, Yoga, Pilates, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Senior Populations and more. What if I have injuries, limitations or contra indications?

Our Certified Personal Trainers have education and experience that allow them to work with most challenges.  We will also work with your doctor or physical therapist to develop a comprehensive program that will yield results without exacerbating existing conditions.

To effectively lose weight, you will most likely need to change your diet, NOT go on a diet. By eating lean and green foods, and cutting down on heavily processed foods and the quantity of calories you consume you provide the nutrients that your body needs and alleviate foods that can lead to excess weight gain.

Will my insurance cover all or part of this program?

There are many insurance companies that have policies that will allow for you to work with a medical professional to receive help for fat loss. The current benchmark seems to be having over a 30 BMI (body mass index). You can calculate your BMI and more here:

We teach the patient to eat what they want, just learn that there is a cause and effect of foods that they consume and that they need to own the effect. This will produce a shift in where the majority of calories are coming from as well as the quality. As food choice comes into the patient’s consciousness, they will slowly learn to make food choices like healthy individuals do.

Does the Doctor’s Choice model require more office space or more staffing?

NO! We provide the consultants and mobile personal certified personal trainers that conduct the sessions in the patient’s home, local park, office, beach, etc… The only thing that your staff will need to do is process payment, file any paperwork (agreements, intake forms, etc) and possibly pull up our website prior to an office visit to see what the patient has been doing with regards to food journaling, exercise programming, assessment results…

What are the qualifications for DCFC’s trainers?

DCFC only hires trainers with nationally credentialed certifications (most have several), years of experience, some have undergrad and even graduate level degrees in exercise physiology, kinesiology and sports medicine. They administer programming written and developed by doctors or master degreed exercise physiologists.

What if it isn’t covered under insurance?

The clients can pay with cash or put it on a credit card. They may be able to take out a small loan from their bank or you may be able to offer Care Credit or some other financing option. What is optimal health worth? Pay now or pay with your health later.

Will insurance pay for any of this?

Yes! There are several codes that you can bill under to help patients with a 30+ BMI. Insurance coverage varies a lot and each patient can contact their insurance to find out what their plan covers. Typically office visits to meet with a doctor, nurse or PA will be covered for nutritional counseling, exercise supervision or Intensive Behavior Therapy for Obesity. The actual workouts with the trainers will probably not be covered.
